The Eastern Plains Council of Government of Clovis has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department, according to a press release from U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici R-N.M.
The $115,728 awarded will provide rental assistance for 10 to 13 individuals or families, Shelter Plus Care Program Manager Lori Howard said.
Howard said Shelter Plus Care works with individuals in Roosevelt and Curry counties who are mentally or physically disabled and homeless.
“We go through quite a bit of funding to help these folks and a lot of them just need the help to get on their feet and have a residence,” she said.
The grant is one of 34 being distributed throughout New Mexico. HUD is granting a total of $7.68 million to help with transitional housing, permanent housing and supportive services for the homeless, Domenici’s release said.
