The United Way of Eastern New Mexico is about $160,000 short of reaching its goal for its 2007-2008 pledge year, according to a news release from the organization.
The non-profit organization has pledged to collect about $565,000 this year, according United Way Executive Director Erin Burch in September during a block party to kick off the pledge year.
This year’s pledge is about $30,000 more than last year’s, said Burch.
The United Way uses the money to support 44 programs from 17 charities in Curry and Roosevelt counties, according to Burch.
Clovis Community College fund-raising events for the United Way have raked in about $9,700, which is about $3,000 more than last year.
Employee payroll participation has also doubled, according to the release.
