Religion Digest: Handbell Festival set for Saturday

The 15th annual Eastern New Mexico Handbell Festival will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Portales, 200 S. Avenue C.
Twelve handbell choirs from Clovis, Portales and the surrounding areas will be performing. Music on the program will include massed ringing pieces played by the participating handbell choirs as well as solos.
An offering will be taken during the concert to help defray the festival expenses.

Church hosting Thanksgiving meal
The First United Methodist Church in Melrose will be hosting a community Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Melrose school cafeteria, 100 E. Missouri Ave.
The meal will include turkey, sides and pumpkin pie.

Citywide holiday dinner planned
There will be a citywide Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday hosted by the Lighthouse Mission, 407 La Cassilas Blvd.
