Nov. 4 Club Notes

Chaparral Extension Club
The Chaparral Extension Club met Oct. 25 at the extension building with 13 members and one guest, Paryss, present. Paryss is the granddaughter of Jeanetta Mesner.
Mesner read “A Newborn’s Conversation with God.” Roll call was answered with favorite pasttime. Linda Roberts read the minutes. Dorothy Bean gave the treasurer’s report.
The group was reminded about several upcoming events. The annual banquet will be held Nov. 15. “A Christmas for Everyone” is scheduled for Nov. 9 and 10.
Reports were given on the High Plains Quilt Festival and Connie’s fall showcase in Portales. The group will eat at Leal’s next month and have a Christmas party at Dorothy Bean’s in December.
Mesner and June Phillips presented the leader training on German Fest.

Fairfield Extension Club
The Fairfield Extension Club met Oct. 26 at the extension building.
Jo Mae Priest and Martha Watkins served as hostesses. After the business meeting, the group painted faces on wooden balls to make pine cone angels.
The next meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 9 at the home of Marydele Brom.

Llano Estacado Quilt Guild
The Llano Estacado Quilt Guild met Oct. 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church with 17 members and two guests, Beatrice Fearon and Tammy Francis, attending.
President Gail Strickler called the meeting to order. Jeanette Biddle presented the previous minutes and read thank-you notes for charity quilts and stockings.
Diana Kiley gave the treasurer’s report. Reports were given on the High Plains Quilt Festival, the centennial quilt and the Hartley House quilt.
New officers will be President Elizabeth Lawrence, Vice-president Linda Custer, Secretary Niki Lee and Treasurer Kiana Kiley.
Sharon Stone, a textile artist, talked about dying fabrics and helped dye fabrics using Wilton paste food coloring.

Clovis BPO
The Clovis BPO Does held two regular meetings in October with President Gwen presiding.
The president called for the roll call of officers and the minutes of the last meeting were read.
Ways and Means Chairperson Jean Hayes reported on the annual spaghetti dinner held Oct. 18.
The Drove then honored the five-year officers by expressing appreciation for their years of service and devotion.
The floor was then opened for election of nominating committee for 2008. Elected to service were; Christine Daves, Helen Drake, Raynette Barker, Jean Hayes and Nancy Freeman.
