Dee Don Bates has been named store manager at the Tractor Supply Co. store in Clovis, according to District Manager Jack Galloway.
A native of Clovis, Bates joined Tractor Supply Co. this year as a manager trainee in Lubbock. He has more than 15 years of retail experience.
In his new position, Bates will oversee all store operations including receiving, inventory control and merchandising, as well as customer relations and team member relations.
The new Clovis Tractor Supply Co. store is located at 1282 State Road 209. The store will open for business in mid-November.
Cummins plant wins VIVA award
The Cummins Natural Gas Engine plant in Clovis was awarded one of six VIVA awards last week in Albuquerque.
According to the Association of Commerce and Industry, VIVA recognizes New Mexico businesses that demonstrate unique vision, investment in employees and surrounding communities, growth, and attempts to make New Mexico a better place to live.
Cummins, which has been in business in Clovis for 32 years, was nominated for the award by the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce.
Cummins is the fourth local business to win a VIVA award, joining ENMR-Plateau (2000), Curtis and Curtis Seed (2004) and Joe’s Boot Shop (2006).
Amigos president elected for 2008
Clovis businessman Glen Adair has been elected to serve as president of the New Mexico Amigos for 2008, according to a release from the group.
Chartered in 1962, the Amigos are the state’s official goodwill ambassadors and travel one week each year to promote the state.
Adair owns Whirlwind Tours Inc. bus company.
Past area presidents include Portales’ Victor Worley in 1987 and Clovis’ Jacob Moberly in 1993.
