Area law enforcement discovered a methamphetamine lab in the late stages of construction Thursday while serving a search warrant at a Melrose house, according to Curry County Undersheriff Wesley Waller.
Waller said the house, located at 623 Third Street, was not occupied at the time the warrant was served.
Arrest warrants are anticipated in the near future, Waller said.
Law enforcement officers from the Region Five Drug Task Force, sheriff’s office, the Clovis Police Department and state police participated in the search, Waller said.
The lab contained equipment and chemicals associated with methamphetamine production, Waller said, explaining, “those combinations of chemicals (found) are very distinct for the manufacturing of methamphetamine.”
Also located at the home was a quarter pound of marijuana that had been packaged for distribution, and two firearms, he said.
