Ex-CHS runner Appelman leads East Central

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Former Clovis High runner Matt Appelman led East Central’s men to a 20th-place team finish out of 35 schools in the 19th annual Chile Pepper Festival cross country meet on Saturday, hosted by the University of Arkansas.

Appelman posted a time of 32 minutes, 30.4 seconds over 10 kilometers for 78th place in the mostly-Division I meet. The Ada, Okla.-based Tigers, members of the Division II Lone Star Conference, managed to beat out 11 Division I schools.
