Seven vie for judicial position

A seventh applicant’s name was added to the list for a judicial vacancy in the 9th Judicial District, according to a press release from the Judicial Nominating Commissions.

Fred Van Soelen’s name was left off the original list released on Friday. Van Soelen’s application was turned in on time but routed to a different part of the building by accident, according to coordinator Sandra Bauman,

Applicants for the position created by the resignation of Judge Joe Parker include Brian P. Brack, Kathleen M. Haynes, Donna J. Mowrer, Kent Peterson, Michelle O. Reeves, Drew D. Tatum and Van Soelen.

The District Judicial Nominating Commission will evaluate the applicants at 1 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Roosevelt County Courthouse.

The evaluation meeting is open to the public.

Brack
Formerly of Clovis, is an
attorney with the Branch Law Firm in Albuquerque.

Haynes
Practicing attorney in Clovis.

Mowrer
Assistant district attorney with the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s office in Portales.

Peterson
Child Support Hearing Officer for the 9th Judicial District in Portales.

Reeves
Staff attorney with the 9th Judicial District Court in Clovis.

Tatum
Practicing attorney with the firm of Tatum and McDowell in Clovis.

Van Soelen
Assistant district attorney with the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s office in Clovis.
