The 2005 murder of Clovis’ Laura McNaughton will be the subject of a national television show set to air on Aug. 18-19, according to an online Court TV schedule.

The airing time for the half-hour documentary could be either 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. (East Coast feed) or 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. (West Coast feed) depending on individual television programming.

The episode is titled “The Waitress” and is part of a series called “Body of Evidence.”

Much of the show was filmed in the Clovis area, and local residents and members of law enforcement were used in re-enactments, show officials have said.

McNaughton’s body was found by hunters in a rural Curry County ditch on Dec. 10, 2005. She had been beaten and strangled.

Local dentist James Smith, 38, is serving a life sentence in connection with the single mother’s slaying.
