Former Clovis Wildcat Jason Seefeld is making an All-Star return.
The 2004 graduate of Clovis High School has been selected as an infielder for the Texas Collegiate League All-Star game Monday at Texas Christian University’s Lupton Stadium.
The game begins at 6:05 p.m. (MDT) and will be televised live by Fox Sports Net Southwest.
Seefeld, who plays third base for the Wichita Falls (Texas) Roughnecks, will play for the Rogers Hornsby team. He was also selected for the game in 2006.
“Last year was a great experience playing with all the All-Stars from around the league,” said Seefeld, entering his senior season at Texas Tech. “I enjoyed it and it was a fun time.”
Players competing in the Texas Collegiate League must have completed their freshman years in college and must have a minimum of one season of collegiate eligibility remaining.
Coaches for the teams are former Texas Rangers Rusty Greer (Tris Speaker All-Stars) and Mike Henneman (Rogers Hornsby All-Stars). As a Rangers fan growing up, Seefeld said it’s a great experience to talk to coaches he used to root for.
“Even our head coach (Johnny Cardenas) played for the Rangers for a couple of weeks or so,” Seefeld said. “It gives you an aspect of what the big leagues are like.
“It’s still a job, but you realize it’s a fun experience.”
