ROSWELL — The Clovis Lady Wildcats improved their summer record to 3-3 on Tuesday, notching 7-5 and 10-6 wins over Roswell Goddard.
Clovis had eight hits in the opener and 13 in the nightcap.
“We hit the ball better than we have been,” coach Brandi Thomas said.
Goddard erased a 4-0, fourth-inning deficit in the opener, tying the game with a three-run fifth. Kim Lumsden singled home Cerra Yohner with the go-ahead run in the seventh, then stole second and third and scored an insurance run on a passed ball.
Charlotte Varney hit a solo home run for CHS, while Vanessa Gallegos whacked a pair of doubles. Elana Wimberly relieved starter Adrianna Aguilar in the fifth and finished to pick up the pitching victory.
Lynnae Logan hurled a complete game in the second half of the twin bill. Goddard led 5-2 after four innings, but Clovis scored three in the fifth, one in the sixth and four in the seventh to open a 10-5 cushion.
Katie Summers, Lumsden and Kambry Jones all went 2-for-2 for the Lady Cats. Summers hit a two-run double in the fifth, while Yohner and Nicole Anaya also had doubles.
The Lady Cats return to action on Thursday with a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Portales.
