Six Clovis High School graduating seniors and two Farwell High School students have been awarded Cotton Simms Scholarships at Texas Tech University, according to an alumni association news release.

The following Clovis High School students received scholarships: Conner R. Best, Laura Stephanie Evarts, Brittni D. Jimenez, Jessika G. McGarvey, Brad D. Props and Barret B. Stewart.

Farwell High School students Elizabeth Britton Barrett and Brooke L. Lunsford also were scholarship recipients.

The students will be incoming freshman at Texas Tech in the fall, according to the news release from the High Plains Chapter of the Texas Tech Alumni Association.

The scholarship award originates from donations of 1934 Texas Tech graduate G.H. “Cotton” Simms and an annul fund-raising golf tournament to benefit local students attending the university, the news release reads.
