PROVO, Utah — Clovis High grad Travis Reid fired a career-low 6-under-par 66 on Thursday en route to a tie for 20th place in the Cougar Classic golf tournament, hosted by Brigham Young University.
Reid, a sophomore at New Mexico State, came back with a round of 73 on Friday and 76 on Saturday to finish at 1-under 215 for the tournament.
“Travis came out playing well on Friday, but it seemed like he just couldn’t get going in the final round of play,” Aggies coach Scott Lieberwirth said. “He and the other players didn’t give themselves the chances they needed to make birdies, especially on the par-5 holes, and that’s why we dropped down on the board.”
NMSU finished eighth in the tourney, its final outing of the regular season, with a four-man score of 7-over 871.
