Agent David Loera of the District Attorney’s office was named investigator of the year Wednesday by the New Mexico District Attorney’s Association, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office.
Loera, an 18-year law enforcement veteran, served with the Clovis Police Department before joining the district attorney’s office in 2000.
A specialist in interviews and interrogations, Loera serves with the Major Crimes Unit and has been instrumental in numerous murder investigations that resulted in convictions, the release said.
“Agent Loera has a gift for investigating violent crimes and our community is extremely fortunate to have Agent Loera as a member of our area law enforcement,” District Attorney Matt Chandler said.

The Client Protection Fund allows citizens to file a claim for lost funds through misappropriation or dishonest conduct by a New Mexico licensed attorney, according to a press release from the New Mexico Bar Association.
The reimbursement program was created by the New Mexico Supreme Court in 2005.
Claims can be filed by calling 1(800) 876-6227.
