Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
About 9 a.m. March 1 an officer was dispatched to a home in the 1400 block of Reid Street in reference to harassment. A teen told the officer an unknown person had hacked into her MySpace account, posted “hateful” comments about her, and listed her real address and phone number. She said she had begun receiving calls from people as far away as the Virgin Islands. She said she has a small group of friends and could not think of anyone who might have done it. The case is under investigation.
Around 2 p.m. March 3 an officer was dispatched to a home in the 700 block of West 18th Street for a domestic dispute. A male resident told officers he and his fiancée were having an argument. The officers asked to speak to the woman, who told them she was having a bad week and had thrown things when they got into a verbal altercation. The man agreed to leave until things calmed down.
About 2 a.m. March 4 an officer responded to a call of a public affray in the parking lot of a bar in the 3800 block of Mabry Drive. A female told the officer a group of people had approached her friend when they were leaving and hit him until he was knocked unconscious. The officer spoke to the man at the hospital, who said he had tried to break up an argument inside the bar and thought everything was OK until he was attacked when he went to his car. Officers told him how to file a criminal battery complaint with municipal court.
Around 2:30 p.m. March 4 an officer responded to a call of a public affray involving a weapon in the 1000 block of Davis Street. On arrival, he noted two women having a verbal altercation. The women said they were arguing about who would get the younger woman’s children for visitation. They told the officer they always argue about the children. The officer advised them to call police next time the children are to be exchanged to avoid an argument. No weapon was located.
