Clovis residents will get to experience the glamour of a Hollywood premiere tonight for the movie “Believe in Me,” including the chance to strut across a red carpet.
The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Red Carpet reception in the Clovis Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. The movie premieres at 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the North Plains Cinema 7.
A Clovis resident purchased a “huge” red carpet from McDaniel’s Furniture and donated it to the Chamber for the event, according to Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce film liaison Liz Eisenbraun.
Participants have been asked to dress “Hollywood Glitz,” Eisenbraun said.
What’s that mean?
“Dress like it’s the Oscars,” said Eisenbraun, who will wear a long, emerald green gown chosen by a co-worker.
Clovis Mayor David Lansford, who also plans to attend the event, said he won’t don a tuxedo in imitation of Hollywood it-boys. Instead, he’ll wear a suit, and admitted he hadn’t fretted about choice of dress.
“I haven’t really delved into the idea of it all (the Red Carpet reception) yet,” he said.
“I have too many other things on my plate,” said Lansford, who has to rush to the event after his broadcast of a girl’s basketball game in Albuquerque.
