Eastern Plains Council of Goverments and La Casa have been awarded grant funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Eastern Plains Council of Goverments has received a total of $235,660, while La Casa has received $221,655 of the grant money.

Awarded under HUD’s Continuum of Care grant program, the funds will be used to provide and solve the needs of homeless persons, according to a press release from Sen. Pete Domenici.

“It is always good to see federal funds directed to persons who desperately need them,” Domenici said.

More than $7 million will be distributed to 18 homeless assistance programs throughout the state of New Mexico. More than $1.2 billion has been awarded to housing programs to provide services for homeless individuals, said the press release.
