A 22-year-old Portales man is out on bail after being arrested Friday for shooting at an occupied motor vehicle in Portales, according to a press release from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s office.

Ollie Fitts admitted to firing four shots from a 22-caliber rifle Thursday night at Marcus Martin, who was driving a 2002 Ford Excursion in the 100 block of Fargo Street, the release said.

Martin was not injured, police said. Police determined Martin’s vehicle was hit by two of the four shots.

Fitts was released Friday night on a $20,000 bond, according to Roosevelt County Detention Center officials.

Fitts is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at or from a motor vehicle and tampering with evidence, the release said.

The shooting was a result of an altercation that took place earlier in the day between Martin and Fitts, the release said.
