LAS VEGAS, N. M. — Senior guard Heather Brown hit five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points Monday to lead the Eastern New Mexico University Zias a 75-56 win over New Mexico Highlands.
It was Zias fifth win in six games.
The Zias (7-2) pulled away early in the second-half as Brown hit her fourth 3-pointer of the contest to put the Zias up 43-31.
Brown put the Zias up by 21 with nearly six minutes left in the game with a short jumper, before she and many of the Zia starters were pulled. The Zias led by as many as 24 points in the second half.
Brown was 7-of-16 from the field, including 5-of-13 from 3-point range. Elizabeth Richards added 13 points for the Zias and Megan Ratliff finished with eight.
DeShawn Williams led Highlands (1-9) with 12 points and Clovis’ Chelo McElrath added with eight points and three assists.
In the men’s contest, Mikal Monette led four Hounds in double figures with 24 points and eight rebounds to lead Eastern (5-5) to a 90-63 win.
Anthony Fuller scored 19 points for Highlands (1-9).
