Bank of Clovis President and CEO Randy Harris is one of 10 New Mexicans to receive the 2006 Governor’s New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Award.
Harris will join the other honorees Wednesday at the award ceremony in Albuquerque.
The awards recognize government employees and private citizens for unusual contributions to public service and improving government at all levels, according to the NMDPSA Web site.
Harris, who also is chairman of the Washington committee of the Clovis Committee of 50, which supports Cannon Air Force Base, was recommended for the award by Gov. Bill Richardson; Lt. Gov. Diane Denish; and U.S. Sens. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., and Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M.
They recommended Harris for his role as leader in Operation Keep Cannon.
“Randy’s efforts were an important part of our success in convincing the BRAC Commission to ask the Secretary of Defense to search for a new mission for Cannon Air Force Base as well as finding the new Air Force Special Operations mission for Cannon,” Domenici said in his letter of recommendation.
