A Clovis woman filed a report with police last week after she was told her boyfriend was intentionally spreading hepatitis, according to the report.

The woman, 39, told police she was contacted by two males who told her a man she had been dating said he had hepatitis C and was going to spread it to other people.

The man had been incarcerated at the Curry County Adult Detention Center and released Sept. 1, she told police. The men told her the boyfriend claimed he contracted hepatitis while getting a tattoo in jail, the report said.

She told police she had been dating him before he was put in jail and had sexual relations with him approximately three times since his release, according to the report.

The woman said she was awaiting results of tests she had taken at a clinic and did not know if she had been infected, the report said.

Police have classified the case as an aggravated battery and are awaiting the results of the victim’s medical tests, the report said.
