ARTESIA — The Clovis High girls soccer team came up empty on a couple of late scoring chances Tuesday and finished in a scoreless tie against Artesia.

CHS (2-4-2) was turned away on two p.enalty kick opportunities and a crossing pass into the middle in the final two minutes of the second overtime, coach Shane Leatherwood said.

“The girls played about as hard as I’ve ever seen them play,” Leatherwood said. “We’re starting to do things right. Hopefully, we’ll come together by the time (District 4-5A play) starts.”

Clovis took a 1-0 victory in the junior varsity preliminary as Taiesha Bosque scored what turned out to be the only goal of the day.
