Clovis’ Cisti Greenwalt is back in the WNBA, and back in Seattle.
The 2001 Clovis High graduate played in four games with the Storm earlier this season, then was traded to the expansion Chicago Sky in late June and promptly cut.
The 6-foot-5 center, who had been living and working out in Sacramento, Calif., signed a seven-day contract with the Storm (14-12) on Tuesday. She was added to the roster when center Janell Burse was sidelined by a shoulder injury, and said she is looking forward to the opportunity.
“It’s kind of different, but this team is so close that it was kind of fun to get the call to come back,” Greenwalt told the Seattle Times. “Just to be a part of it again and try to g et my foot back in the door.”
The Storm was able to add Greenwalt, who helped lead CHS to large-school state championships in 1999 and 2000, because of the WNBA’s “hardship rule,” according to the Times. The rule allows a team to exceed the player limit if injuries deplete the roster to nine or less.
Burse told the Times that she is hopeful of a quick return to action, but said she is leery of contact with the tender shoulder.
