William George Spencer, 73, of Clovis, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at home.
He was born March 17, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio, to Robert Norman and Elizabeth Wiegel Spencer. He married Stella Salazar on Feb. 24, 1994, in Clovis. He retired from the Army in 1976 and worked as a barber at Bill’s Flightline Barber Shop until his retirement in 1989. He was a life member of the VFW Post 3280, Disabled American Veterans and the AmVets. He was also a member of the American Legion. He served in Korea from 1951 to 1953, had three tours in Vietnam, and was stationed in Germany and France.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Spencer; and a sister, Carole Spencer.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, William Spencer Jr., Rick Spencer and Robert Spencer, all of Alliance, Ohio, and Douglas Spencer of Cape Cod, Fla.; a daughter, Robin Spencer of Alliance; two sisters, Delores Stevens and Virginia Weeks, both of Cortland, Ohio; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
The Rev. Scott Henry is officiating.
Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Full military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers are Ted Soto, Don Taylor, Frank Flores, Leo Chacon and Darrel Marshall.
