Jonathan Ware pitched a six-inning no-hitter Thursday night as Clovis completed a doubleheader sweep of Portales with a 10-0 win in summer high school baseball at Bell Park.
The Wildcats won the opener 12-2 as both games were shortened by the 10-run rule. Portales filled in for Shallowater, which was unable to make the trip to Clovis because some of its players had other commitments.
Ware struck out five and allowed just three baserunners, one on a walk and two on hit batsmen. Parker Wood drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and bases-loaded walk, while Emery Sierra also knocked in a pair with a single and a sac fly.
In the opener, Cade Wheeler went the distance in the 4 1/2-inning game, allowing just two hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
Andrew Gilliland went 3-for-4 for the Cats and drove in four runs with a two-run double and a two-run single. Sierra and Wood both finished 2-for-4, including a pair of RBI singles for Sierra.
Clovis (7-1) returns to action on Thursday with a 4 p.m. (MDT) twin bill at Hereford.
