Pat Weekley is the Pintores Art League artist of the month for June. Her paintings will be on display at the Clovis Carver Public Library in June.
She has been a member of the art league for about 10 years and served as the recording secretary for the past two years. She has taken part in many judged art shows sponsored by the Pintores Art League and has won several awards.
She began painting in oils in the early 1980s, according to Weekley. She has studied with several instructors locally: Virginia Gregory, Bobby Wied and Bruce DeFoor. She has also taken part in several workshops.
DeFoor introduced her to soft pastels at Clovis Community College, and she enjoys both mediums. She likes still life paintings and landscapes, especially those of local settings.
New Mexico is not just prairie and desert areas, according to Weekley. “The area we live in is felled with so much beauty and majesty; that’s God’s gift to us and I hope my art reflects this. Whatever talent and skills I possess is not my own but is a gift from God,” said Weekley
A retired nurse, she worked at Plains Regional Medical Center for about 15 years and is a member of the Auxiliary, the “Pink Ladies,” and publishes the group’s newsletter. She is an active member of the First Christian Church and teaches the Fidelis Sunday School class. She enjoys quilting when time permits.
