5/9 Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

An officer was called to Marshall Junior High School at 1 p.m. May 1 for a public affray. A teacher told the officer the boys had gotten into a fist-fight over a foul during a basketball game. The officer was unable to find any other witnesses or evidence at the time.

An officer responded to a grocery store in the 1900 block of Prince Street around 7 p.m. Tuesday for a call of shoplifting. A store employee said a man had attempted to leave the store with items hidden under his jacket valued at $10. The man told the officer he had tried to take the food because he as hungry.
The man was arrested and taken to Curry County Adult Detention Center.

At 8 p.m. Thursday, an officer reported a large rock thrown in his direction while conducting a traffic stop. A witness identified a man whom the officer had made contact with earlier.

A warrant for assault on a police officer is being sought.

Around 5:30 a.m. Friday an officer met with a man in 2000 block of West Grand Street who said there was a warrant for his arrest and he wanted to turn himself in. The officer ran the man’s identification through the dispatcher and confirmed a warrant for contempt of court, failure to appear and failure to pay fines. The suspect was transported to Curry County Detention Center.
