Matthew DeWayne Myrick, 36, of Hereford, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006.
He was born June 8, 1969. He graduated from North Lamar High School in Paris, Texas. He served in the U.S. Naval Armed Forces from 1989 to 1991. On Jan. 2, 1993, He married Christy Alison Butler in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor of science degree in 1994 and a masters of science degree in agriculture in 2000. He served as a Texas Department of Public Safety State trooper. Family members said he was a devoted husband of 13 years, father, son, brother, believer and friend to many.
Survivors include his wife Christy; daughter, Matilyn; sons, Tate, Luke and Embry; parents, Steve and Judy Myrick of Clovis; sister, Amanda Myrick of Albuquerque; in-laws, Ted and Peggy Butler of Austin, Texas; and grandmothers, Nola Myrick of Friona and Hazel Burford of Clovis.
Pastor Ted Taylor officiated with the assistance of Pastor Dorman Duggan of the Hereford Community Church.
Family suggests memorials to the Church of the Nazarene, building fund, 1410 La Plata, Hereford, Texas, 79045.
