One of the five finalists for the Clovis Community College president job dropped out less than 72 hours before he was scheduled to come to Clovis to interview for the position, according to college officials.
Carl Heilman, president of Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Ill., alerted college officials of his intentions to withdraw from the race via e-mail on Monday, according to Jan Hamilton, CCC auxiliary services coordinator.
According to Russell Muffley, chairman of the CCC Board of Trustees, Heilman withdrew because he had another job offer. Heilman was scheduled to interview for the CCC presidential position this Thursday, Muffley said.
Muffley said Heilman’s withdrawal has little effect on the race.
“We have completed our interview process. Everything has been moved up a day, if anything,” Muffley said.
There remaining finalists are:
• Eileen Ely, campus dean at Laramie County Community College in Wyoming
• Lynn Kreider, chief executive officer at Louisiana Delta Community College in Monroe, La.
• John Neibling, vice president for instruction at the Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, Ariz.
• Becky Rowley, interim CCC president.
Muffley said previously the board would announce its choice during an April 26 board meeting.
