Edmarena “Mema” Singletery, 82, formerly of Brownfield, Texas, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in San Angelo, Texas.
She was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Vera, Texas, to James Edward and Velma Wood Messenger, she married Hubert Arden Singletery March 17, 1941, in Swensen, Texas. She was the owner of the Carol Lee Donut Shop for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother and one grandson.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Carle Lavada Bell (and husband, James Dene) of Medicine Lodge, Kan., Carolyn McCown (Clayton) of San Angelo, Gay Horn of Cedar Park, Texas, and Jane Moot (Paul) of Cheyenne, Wyo.; eight grandchildren, Ralph Bell of Oklahoma City, Okla., James Bell of Manchester, Md., Kendra Buchanan of Waco, Texas, Amanda McCown of Flower Mound, Texas, Heather Work of Pflugerville, Texas, Ambre Horn of Dallas and Kodi Horn of Cedar Park, Texas; four great-grandchildren; brother, Amon Henry Messenger, of Bakersfield, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Texico.
Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas.
