John Edward Parks, 78, of Olathe, Kan., died Friday, March 31, 2006.
Born Feb. 4, 1928, to Carl Henry and Bessie Barfield Parks, he was a World War II veteran. He worked for General Motors-Delco for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was active with Cub and Boy Scouts, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling and woodworking, family members said. They said he was a loving, dedicated husband who loved God and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Carl, and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lula Lary Parks; a son, Ronald Gene Parks of Paola, Kan.; three grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; two sisters, Velma A. Allison and Kay Boyd, and a brother, Richard C. Parks.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at McGilley and Frye Chapel, Olathe.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Myasthenia Graves.
