Blanche Price, 75, of Portales, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
Born Oct. 22, 1930, in Floyd, to Virgie and Moses B. Hawkins, she was a 1948 Floyd High School graduate. While she was still in high school, she was a school bus driver. After graduating from high school, she attended classes at Eastern New Mexico University.
In addition to raising her four children, she also cared for her ailing mother and brother until their deaths. In 1971 she moved to Hatch where she became the school librarian. She moved back to Portales in 1982, and became Floyd High School librarian. She had been retired since 1993.
On March 8, 1985, she married James Price.
For several years she was a Senior Companion, and had been a classroom grandmother at James Elementary School. She was a member of Faith Triumphant Church in Portales. Family members said she enjoyed keeping her yard and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Gerald, Hubert, Buster and Virgil Hawkins; three sisters, Muriel Riley, Juanita Pace and Verna Mae Feland, and by a son, Mike Dallas, who died in 2004.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Ricky Dallas (and wife, Dottie) of Hatch and Steve Dallas (Carolyn) of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter Peggy Terry (Kenny) of Bushland, Texas; daughter-in-law Donette Dallas (Mike) of Bakersfield, Calif.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Imogene Nixon of Hermaleigh, Texas.
The Rev. James Terry will officiate services. Burial will take place at Floyd Cemetery.
Randy Terry, Tyler, Daniel, Ricky, Steve and Darvin Dallas, Gene Glover and Kenny Terry will serve as pallbearers.
