Joe L. Jones, 70, of Clovis died Thursday, March 23, 2006, in Johnson City, Texas.
Born Nov. 18, 1936, in Curry County to Joe Chester and Addie Bea Jones, he grew up in Center and attended Center School. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1954, and was FFA chapter president. He attended Eastern New Mexico University where he met his wife, Lois. They were married on July 21, 1957, in Clovis. He joined the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe railroad in 1954, and served as a conductor for 43 years. In retirement, he enjoyed friends and family and participating in the Elk’s, family members said.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orval Jones, and a grandson, Chad Steven White.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Susan White (and husband, Jerry) of Clovis; a son, Joe S. Jones (Sandra) of New Braunfels, Texas; four granddaughters, Stephanie Gonser (Tyrell) and Amanda White, all of Clovis; Katie Jones and Taylor Jones, both of New Braunfels; and a great-grandson, Jadyn Gonser of Clovis.
Rev. Mike Eberhardt will officiate services. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. The family will be at 204 Springfield Road.
Darrell Campbell, Tom Rickstrew, David and Gene Jones, Wendell Osborn and Harvey Hudson will serve as pallbearers.
All Elk’s Lodge members and BNSF Railway employees will serve as honorary pallbearers.
