PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University softball coach Armando Quiroz has announced the signing, during the fall early signing period, of four incoming freshmen from Arizona to letters of intent for the 2006-07 school year.
They are Michelle Anderson, a catcher and third baseman from Sierra Vista (Buena H.S.); Alexandra May Otis, a pitcher-first baseman-outfielder from Phoenix (St. Mary’s H.S.); Casandra McCommons, a utility infielder from Tucson (Sunnyside H.S.), and Rebecca Quinones, a middle infielder and outfielder from Gilbert.
Anderson is a four-year competitor at Buena, earning first-team all-region honors as a catcher in 2005. She also competed in volleyball and basketball in high school.
May Otis is a four-year player at St. Mary’s, and helped her team to a runnerup finish in Class 5A a year ago when she hit .566 with a .708 slugging percentage.
McCommons was a first-team all-city selection in Tucson in 2004 and 2005. She has also participated in basketball and golf in high school.
Quinones has been a four-year starter at Gilbert, earning All-East Valley honors in 2004 and 2005.
