Gordon “Wayne” Hayes, 75, of Clovis, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 24, 1930, in Bradenton, Ohio, to Homer and Myrtle Hayes, he retired from the Air Force as a senior master sergeant after 30 years of service. He was a life member of Clovis Elk’s Lodge 1244, where he served as secretary.
Family members said he loved to play golf and cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ernest Renner; and a sister, Carolyne Meeks.
He is survived by his wife, Jean A. Hayes; a son, W. Jon Hayes (and wife, Pat) of Clovis; a granddaughter, Amanda J. Hayes of Florida; a brother, Cleon “Bill” Billings (Audrey) of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a sister, Norma Romaine (Bill) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and two aunts, Pearl Buck and Martha Dailey, both of Akron, Ohio.
Cremation has taken place.
Honorary pallbearers will be his friends from Clovis Elk’s Lodge 1244.
Family members suggest memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Dana Martinez, 44, of Lynnwood, Wash., died on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at her home.
Born Jan. 16, 1962, in Alton, Ill., to Laverne and Sharon Bechtold, she graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Washington University. After graduation, she began her career as an occupational therapist. She married Ronald D. Martinez of Clovis on Dec. 10, 1994, in St. Louis. In March of 2001, they moved to Lynnwood. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. During her 4 1/2-year battle with the disease, she participated in seven triathlons that gave her courage, hope and determination to survive, family members said. She organized “Dana’s List” on the Internet to afford ovarian cancer sufferers the opportunity to exchange ideas and information about treatments and offer hope.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Abigail Marie and Jennifer Sue; her parents; a brother, Mike Bechtold; a grandmother, Melba Selkirk, and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be today and Friday at Purdy and Walters, Lynnwood, Wash.
The family suggests memorials be made to Ron Martinez at Bank of America, 20711 Bothell Everett Highway, Bothell, Wash. 98012. Proceeds will be given to Kids Konnected in the name of the Dana Bechtold Martinez Memorial Fund.
