Woman injured when vehicle strikes pole
A female driver heading east on U.S. 60-84 struck a telephone pole Monday afternoon at the intersection of Wheaton Street, said New Mexico State Police Lt. Juan Jose Martinez.

The back of the driver’s head was bleeding, Martinez said, and she was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital.

The driver was traveling in the passing lane when she struck the median, then over-corrected her vehicle to the right and struck the pole on the side of the road, according to Martinez.

No one else was injured in the accident, Martinez said.
