STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Junior Katie Crawford led a balanced attack with a game-high 22 points as Tarleton State set up a showdown for the Lone Star Conference South title by beating Eastern New Mexico University 90-62 Thursday on Senior Night.
If Tarleton State beats South leader West Texas A&M on Saturday in Canyon the TexAnns will earn a share of regular-season title.
Heather Brown led the Zias with 17 points and Tiana Bryant added 13 points and seven rebounds.
The TexAnns (19-7, 11-2) jumped out to a 13-3 lead thanks to 3-pointers by Crawford, Kimberly Smith and Amanda Franklin. Isha Brown added two free throws and Smith a bucket to put the TexAnns up by 10 with 16:59 left in the first period.
Tarleton pushed the lead to 40-13 with a little under six minutes left in the half Crawford hit another shot from beyond the arc.
The Zias (10-17 overall, 2-11 LSC South) used an 18-2 run in the last five minutes of the first half to pull within 11 before Franklin hit a three from the left corner of the floor at the buzzer.
The TexAnns put the game out of reach with an 11-2 run midway through the second half.’
Franklin finished with 16 points. Franklin and Iveta Griffin led the team with seven rebounds apiece as Tarleton outrebounded the visitors 43-29 in the contest.
