Herbert Hodges, 77, formerly of Clovis, died at his home in Rockdale, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006.
He was born to John Elton and Inez (Finley) Hodges on June 26, 1928, in Quinlan, Texas.
Mr. Hodges graduated high school in Ranchvale. He married Odelsa Brown on June 7, 1952, in Clovis. He retired after 35 years with the Santa Fe Railroad as an engineer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Vaughn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Hodges.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife; one son: Tommy Hodges (and wife Carla) of Rockdale, Texas; one daughter: Cathy Jean Fuehring (John) of Fort Worth, Texas; two granddaughters: Melody Ann and Tracey Samantha Hodges of Rockdale, Texas; three sisters: Juanema Staggs of Tularosa, Pat Carpenter of Capitan and Dorothy Reed of Clovis.
Rev. Jack Chelf will officiate services. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Bill Avrett, Jim Hodson, Ron Green, Dick Burns, Arlyn Hammett, Lambert Skubal, James Powell and Walter Pond will serve as pallbearers.
Carlton and Jeff Reed will serve as honorary pallbearers.
