Christmas shooting suspect arrested

Police arrested Robert Macias, 30, on Tuesday in connection with the Christmas night shooting of a Clovis man on Pile Street.

The arrest was made based on interviews and witness statements, according to Clovis Police Lt. James Schoeffel.

Zachariah Stephenson, 30, was shot once in the leg, above the knee, about 9:45 p.m. after he opened the door to his residence on 1200 Pile Street, records show.

Stephenson gave police a description of the shooter and of the assailant’s car, according to a police report.

Macias is being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center, officials said.
