ROSWELL — Nothing soothes a tough loss better than an easy win.

Brittany Blackmon scored 18 points and Tori Quintana added 14 points — including four 3-pointers — as Clovis routed Roswell Goddard 61-30 Thursday.

The Lady Wildcats (12-2) were coming off a 56-50 home loss to Mayfield, a team Clovis beat by 30 points earlier in the season and in the 2005 Class 5A state title game.

“I was pleased we came out focused and stayed focused the whole game,” Clovis coach Miles Watters said.

“It was good to bounce back like that. Not only did we get the win, but we played well.”

Clovis jumped out to a 28-9 halftime lead with the help of a full-court press.

“They tried to slow the game down so we put a little pressure on them trying to get the game a little up-tempo,” Watters said.

Aimee Hilburn added 10 points for Clovis while Ebony Bunton and Jasmine McDonald chipped in six points each.

Krissy Bowen led the Class 4A Rockets with 14 points.
