Geneva Russell, 90, formerly of Clovis, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Clare Bridge in Highlands Ranch, Colo., where she lived for the last two years.
She was born April 24, 1915, in Harrisburg, Mo. When she was four, her father bought a farm and moved the family to La Junta, Colorado. She graduated from La Junta High School in 1933.
She married A.V. (Al or Shorty) Russell on May 19, 1935. They lived in La Junta, Colo., until 1941 when the couple moved to Clovis where A.V. went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. She retired in 1979 after working as manager of the Sandia Elementary School cafeteria for almost 20 years.
She was a charter member of Parkland Baptist Church where she taught a women’s Sunday school class for several years.
Family members said she enjoyed shopping, being an excellent homemaker, cooking, and traveling but, perhaps most of all, she loved and enjoyed her family and the Lord.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters and one brother.
She is survived by two sons; Ronnie Russell (and wife, Lou) of Las Cruces and Jim Russell (Judy) of Centennial, Colo.; a sister, Vivian Bauske of Albuquerque; three grandsons, David Russell (Emily) of Mora, Paul Russell (Shelly) of Centennial, Colo., and Chris Russell (Katherine) of Lone Tree, Colo.; and six great-grandchildren, Hailey Katherine, Diana Kay, Jake Andrew, Luke Allen, Brandon Dean, and Christian Russell.
Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Chris, David and Paul Russell.
Pastor Doug Brooks of Parkland Baptist will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Parkland Baptist building fund.
