Col. Tony M. Greget, 80, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at the Ray Ranch outside of Roy.
He was born Jan. 17, 1925, in San Pedro, Calif., to Andreja Greget and Vinka (Markovich) Greget.
He joined the Air Force at 18 and served as a pilot for 29 years. He flew 216 combat missions and flew airplanes ranging from P-22s to F-4s.
He married Kathryn Elizabeth Snelson on Aug. 5, 1949. After retiring from the Air Force, they moved to Clovis where he worked as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance for seven years. They moved to Pendaries Village in Rociada, where he restored antique automobiles. They moved to Las Cruces and enjoyed close ties with two grandchildren, family members said.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Kay Ray (and husband, George III) of Roy; a granddaughter, Dr. Wendy Michelle Miller (Trey) of Manhattan, Kan.; a grandson, Rocky Pryor Ray of Austin, Texas; a sister, Nina Satalich (Jack) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a brother, John Greget (Mary) of Anthem, Ariz.
He died of lung cancer. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
