Retired barber Clyde L. DeFoor, 72, of Clovis died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Clovis to John “Pop” and Daisy Loving DeFoor.
He married Wanda Lois Banister on Sept. 9, 1951, in Clovis. In 1952, he joined the Navy and became a 3rd class petty officer serving in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Castor. In the Navy he studied to become a barber and began his career in Fort Sumner. He owned a barbershop in the Clovis Hotel. His hobbies included painting, raising livestock and visiting with family and friends, family members said. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gradon DeFoor and Elmer DeFoor
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Bruce DeFoor (and wife Beth), Terril DeFoor (Kim), Farril DeFoor (Lynda) and Kip DeFoor (Sherry); two daughters, Ginia Taylor (Lynn) and Vala Sprinkle (Denny); 13 grandchildren, Keelyn Walkup (Tony), Ambree and Lunden Taylor, Trey (Kathy), Treven, Tazley and Tanner Sprinkle, Kaina, Tycer, Shad, Kolter and Kylin DeFoor, and Bethanie Gonzales; four great grandchildren, Hali and Baylor Sprinkle, Adrian Gonzales and Ayden Walkup; three sisters, Veda Spitz, Syble Hendricks and Levon Haga; and a brother, John DeFoor
Farril DeFoor, Steve Friskup and Dean Turvaville will officiate at services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Jerry Sparks, Tony Romero, Ray Ware, David Petty, Wilbur Cogdill and Roy Cook.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Brian Willmon, Ellison Green, Tony Pena, Jack Mixon, Buddy Grey, Benny Holder, Dustin Higginbotham, Jimmy Webb, Jimmy Snipes, Hadley Reed, Bobby Atwell, Anthony Mares, Oscar Fernandez, Bud Jones, all his grandchildren and the staff of the VA Clinic and Plains Regional Medical Center
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Matthew 25 Project.
