Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

At 3 p.m. on Saturday, two pre-teen girls who live on the 100 block of Plains St. told police she and her friend had been playing at a park when an older girl made fun of them. She told the officer that they left the playground, and while they walked home the older girl hit her on the back of her head and then scratched her face.

After patrolling the playground area, the responding officer could not find the suspect.

At 3 a.m. on Sunday, an unidentified caller in the 1100 block of Connelly street reported a Hispanic male tried to break into a nearby home and was sitting on the roof of a shed in the back yard.

Police noted the man on the roof did not speak English, had no identification and smelled like alcohol.

He was arrested and booked at the Curry County Adult Detention Center for concealing his identity and trespassing.

At 8 p.m. on Saturday, an officer was dispatched to a store on the 3700 block of Prince street for a report of employee theft.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police an employee had stolen $325 in a one-week period from a cash register.

A videotape from the store’s security camera showed the employee putting a $100 bill in his pocket after a customer walked away from the check-out area.

The male suspect told police he had taken money, but did not think he had taken the full amount alleged.

The man was given his last paycheck and fired.

Charges are possible pending a review of the case.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a 26-year-old woman called police to report her house on the 1100 block of Sunrise Blvd. had been robbed between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 6:55 p.m.
Boot marks were found next to the door and knob area, and it was kicked open. The woman told police a pair of ostrich boots were missing along with DVDs, VHS tapes, a television and a DVD player.

There are no witnesses or suspects.

At 7:31 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a call that a man drove his vehicle into the wall of a bank in the 2500 block of Prince St. after using the ATM machine. Both of the car’s airbags deployed.

The man told police he dropped his glasses on the ground and when he leaned out of his car to pick them up his foot slipped off the break and onto the accelerator pedal.

The man was injured but refused to be transported to the hospital.

At noon on Wednesday, a man tried to cash a $146.08 check at a store on the 3700 block of Prince Street.

Store employees said the man provided the store with false identification and he had attempted to cash checks there two times prior. They said the man appeared shaky, pale, unshaven, dirty and wore a baseball cap, jeans and T-shirt.
The suspect ran out of a side door and drove off in a small white pickup truck before police arrived.
