ROSWELL — The Clovis High boys soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss on Saturday to Roswell High in the Wildcats’ final tuneup for the start of District 4-5A play.

Guerreno Morales scored about 16 minutes into the match for the Coyotes, while Juan Perez added a second-half goal.

“We fought hard,” CHS coach Shaun Gill said. “We did some positive things.”

He said Roswell has a talented midfielder who is capable of taking over a match, but the Cats (6-7) held him in check. “He really wasn’t a factor in the game,” Gill said.

Clovis begins district play on Tuesday when it plays at Carlsbad.
