Reporter’s notebook: Muleshoe shop hosting antique show

Carolyn’s Christmas Creations in Muleshoe is hosting its second annual Antique Road Show on Saturday.

It is not the popular PBS show, but an event is patterned after it.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. (MDT) and features Chuck Braden, a federally certified personal property appraiser from Parker Braden Auctions in Carlsbad.

“We will see some fabulous items,” said store owner Carolyn Johnson. “People will bring books to violins.”

Johnson said items will be seen by appointment only but anyone can attend.

Johnson said that last year’s show had a large turnout and she has already received a good response for this year. “It is a fun thing,” she said. “I love hearing the stories.”

“It never ceases to amaze me what people have in their homes,” Braden said. “I especially love items that have ties to world or American history.”

Braden said he does not appraise jewelry or art.
