Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
Police responded Sunday to a report of shots fired near La Salle and Purdue streets. The complainant informed the officers he had gotten into a verbal altercation at a Prince Street business, and after returning home, he observed a vehicle drive slowly by and an occupant shoot four times out the window into the air.
Officers were able to locate and search the vehicle and home of the suspect. A weapon and shell casings were found, however officers were unable to tie the subject to the scene.

Police were called to a business in the 2000 block of Seventh Street on Aug. 16 in regards to a report of shoplifting.
Upon arrival, officers were told that a young Hispanic male had been observed attempting to place a Sharpie marker in his pocket without making an effort to pay for it.
The subject told police he wanted a marker so he could write his name on his school books.
Officers issued a juvenile citation and released the child to his mother.

Officers were approached Tuesday by a woman who said she was stabbed a day earlier.
She told police she was visiting a friend on Thornton Street when a woman entered the residence, directed some comments, and stab at her neck with a knife approximately 4 inches in length. She said she did not initially report the crime out of fear of the subject.
Officers observed a 1/4-inch cut on the left side of her neck but the complainant said she did not need medical attention.

Officers responded Wednesday to a report of an ongoing domestic dispute in the 100 block of Aspen. Upon arrival, the officer observed a distraught female who had been crying.
She told police boyfriend got into bed with her and held her down by placing his forearm on her chest and throat.
The boyfriend admitted to drinking and getting “carried away.”
The boyfriend was placed under arrest for battery on a household member and removed from the home.
