Melrose’s Old Timers’ Day 2005 Centennial Kick-Off

Friday
• 1-3 p.m. — Enter quilts, Melrose, cafeteria building. Open to hand quilting and machine quilting.

• 7:30 p.m. — Old Timers’ music fest , Melrose P.E. Complex

Saturday
• 7-9 a.m. — Pancake breakfast, Senior Citizens’ Center

• 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. — Registration, P.E. Complex, Clovis High Plains Drifters Motorcycle Poker Run. $300 in guaranteed prize money. Contact Bernice Baker: 505-762-1990. Poker Run begins on Main Street.

• 9 a.m. — Parade lineup

• 9:30 a.m. — Parade

• 10 a.m. — Second annual Old Timers’ Car Show, north side of the park. Entry fee $15. Top 10 cars get awards. For information call Robert Harris at 714-3937 or Eddie Harris at 714-3971.

• 10:15 a.m. — Awards/recognition, Baxter Park; flag raising and groundbreaking for Veterans’ Memorial, south end of park

• 10:30 a.m. — Rotary turtle race; motorcycle rodeo west of the swimming pool

• 11:30 a.m. — Old Timers’ Cook-Off Challenge with $1,500 in prize money. For information call Keith McAlister at 253-4763 or 760-7429).

• 1-5 p.m. — Quilt show, Band Room (Cafeteria Bldg., Melrose Schools)

• 3 p.m. — Drawing for quilt and cross-stitched angel; Cow Patty Plop; Car show awards

• 6:30 p.m. — Melrose Schools alumni banquet, old gym

• 8 p.m. — Street dance sponsored by the Melrose Volunteer Fire Dept., north of the park, with Terry Bullard.
