William Dow “Pete” Adams, 80, of Albuquerque, died Saturday, July 16, 2005.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1925, in Clovis, to Claude and Ara Adams.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 16, served n World War II, the Korean War and retired after 20 years of service. He worked for ACF Industries and University of New Mexico civil engineering research facility until his retirement in 1986.
Family members said he enjoyed fishing, Lobo basketball, pinochle, golf working with his hands and had an innate ability to build and repair most anything.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Simpson Adams; his parents; and a brother, AJ Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice C. Adams; a sister, Ann Wilkins; a son, Gary Adams (and wife, Kay); a daughter, Linda Marsh (David); a step-daughter, Diane Chase; four grandchildren, Cori Moore (Sean), Andrea Sanchez (Greg), Douglas Ray and Michael Marsh; five great-grandchildren, Joel, Thomas, Kelsi, Ryan and Ian; and many other family members.
Burial will be at Santa Fe National cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation, 4901 Lang Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
