Mr. James Troy Ray, 87, of Clovis died Friday, July 8, 2005 at Plains Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 30, 1917, in House to Jewell and Lily Graham Ray. He was a Navy seaman during World War II and served most of his seven years duty on submarines. Following the war he returned to the McAlister area and married Romane Green on Dec. 24, 1947 in Clovis. He farmed and ranched in the McAlister area. He was a resident of McAlister for many years before moving to Clovis in 2002. He was also a former school bus driver for House Schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dennis and Donald; and a sister, Pauline Parks
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Karen Franklin (and husband, Derrell) of Hagerman and Jan Shoemaker (Eddy) of Ima; 2 sons, Jim Ray (Cathy) of House and Darrel Ray of Clovis; a sister, Imogene Perry of Alamogordo; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
Burial will be at Browning Cemetery in Quay County.
Pallbearers will be Lance Franklin, Stoney Shoemaker, Casey Ray, Dyrow Ray, Terrill Stowe, Barry Dixon and John Everitt and Chris Cavett
Honorary Pallbearers are Fred Modisette, H.J. Lee, Pete Morris, Eldon Blackburn, Bill Upton and Spence Morris.
Family suggests memorials be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the New Mexico Boy’s Ranch.
